Free call tracking software exists, but “free” can mean several different things: a free plan with no expiry, a time-limited trial, or a free tier that only works once you pay for numbers and minutes. This guide explains what to look for so there are no surprises.

We build CallRing AI, which has a Free plan, so we describe it below with its limits stated plainly. For a wider look, see our comparison of the best call tracking software.

Three kinds of “free”

  • A free plan: no expiry, usually with caps on users, numbers, and features.
  • A free trial: full or near-full features for a limited time, such as 14 days. CallRail, for example, lists a 14-day free trial on its pricing page.
  • A free tier with usage costs: the plan is free, but phone numbers and call minutes are billed separately.

What to check before relying on a free plan

  • Does it include dynamic number insertion, or only a single static number?
  • How many tracking numbers and sources are included?
  • Are recordings, transcripts, and summaries included?
  • What are the usage costs for numbers and minutes?
  • What happens to your data if you outgrow or leave the plan?

What the CallRing AI Free plan includes

The CallRing AI Free plan is $0 per month with no expiry date. It includes:

CallRing AI is in pre-launch while we write this, so the Free plan is available at launch. Joining the waitlist is free.
  • Call tracking and call history, with spam protection
  • AI call transcripts and AI call summaries
  • Email reporting, Slack integration, and 2FA
  • 1 workspace and 2 team members
  • 1 deal and 3 contacts

What it does not include: free phone numbers, free sources, and bulk number purchase. Dynamic number insertion and the Google Analytics and Google Sheets integrations start on the Starter plan at $29 per month. Phone numbers, call minutes, and AI transcription are billed on usage; see the pricing page for current rates.

When free is enough, and when it is not

A free plan is enough to test the workflow: get a number, take a call, and read an AI transcript and summary. It stops being enough when you need per-channel attribution on your website, which needs DNI and several sources. At that point, compare paid plans on what you actually need.
